Had a nice lunch with fams and met up with a good friend of mine who’s moving back to the bay. I think this was the most Korean food I’ve ever eaten in one sitting. I still can’t pronounce it properly, but Dae Jang Keum… i’ll be seeing you again soon.

I had lunch with birthday boy Mr. Freddie Joachim and got caught up in a good convo that we forgot to take flicks of the food. Happy born day brother! If you know this kid and you’re at a bar tonight, buy him a drink or 6.

Shaney’s monitor is bigger than yours.

February 1st, 2010 | Category: Life

Besides being a wonderful human being, my good friend Shaney happens to be the founder of Keep-A-Breast Foundation and we had the pleasure of visiting her new office last week….and she has the biggest monitor in the industry…period.

Keep A Breast is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. I have a pretty awesome history with Shaney. We went to high school together and also worked at DC Shoes for several years. I was involved with KAB early on since I’ve lost a few loved ones to breast cancer and when Shaney first mentioned it to me years ago, I wanted to help in any way I could. One of the many things KAB has done is their breast cast exhibitions. These have been key fundraisers for Keep A Breast showcasing authentic KAB plaster casts painted by leading artists and auctioned off to raise money for breast cancer awareness programs.

Shaney is one of the busiest people I know. Let her desk be the proof, she has a brand new keyboard still perfectly wrapped!

Reality Check

January 8th, 2010 | Category: Life

My fellow associate and godbrother Alyasha is a part of a collective blog called The Wild International and I absolutely have to re-post this for everyone to read since let’s face it -no one is checkin’ themselves anymore. Wake up kid!

“Are you sure you are ready for it? My wish for this decade is for everyone to accept and realize their true selves. No one is special. No one is a star. Dial down your self confidence to a realistic level. It will make you that much more bearable. And see your real friends for what they are and see them more often. Be yourself and be happy. Once you realize that your ego is your own worst enemy we’re good to go. -written by Q”

First Sunday

January 3rd, 2010 | Category: Life

Kicked off the first weekend of 2010 with Dim Sum today and a trip to Kobey’s Swap Meet. Kobey’s have been around for as long as I can remember. They used to have booths back in the 80′s where they sold the extra large Lasonic boom boxes in every color, black, silver, even gold! Naturally, I gravitated to the dusty, some sun-ridden record bins first.

There was a lady who had an impressive turntable collection, they were all in pretty bad shape and some had seen better days. Nonetheless, it was a nice trip on memory lane. Here’s to analog greatness…

This performer really caught my eye…peep his drum kit….steel drum snare (with actual snares installed under the lip!)…pot-cover hi-hat…luggage kick drum…this shit was GULLY!

Not bad for a beautiful Sunday. I intend to have a lot more of these days this year.
